Statement by TUV leader Jim Allister:-
“In the European Parliament MEPs sit in politically aligned groups.
“Sinn Fein sits with the ultra leftists, who support every crazed proposal imaginable. No surprise there.
“But, where would SDLP and Alliance sit, if elected? The answer from Alliance is clear: with the Europhile extremists, ALDE, led by Verhofstadt, who champions the cause of an EU Army, tax raising powers for Brussels and the transfer of maximum sovereignty from the member states. Ms Long may protest she does not support such. Really? Then, why would she choose to join such a group. Actions still speak louder than words.
“As for the SDLP, they are in a muddle. They want to face in opposite directions. They are now aligned with Fianna Fáil, which sits with the ALDE extremists, but Colum Eastwood now says he would sit with the Socialists! Confused? Well, no more than SDLP are.
“For myself, if elected for what I’d strive to make a very short sit for the U.K., because I want OUT, I’d be happy to sit with the unequivocal anti-EU group led by Nigel Farage. My mission would be to help extract the U.K. as completely and quickly as possible and towards that end to leave the EU establishment in no doubt that the will of 17.4 million must prevail.
“The Brexit Party has magnificently rallied the anti-EU forces in GB and I would gladly find common cause with them on the core Brexit issues in the European Parliament.
“That’s the company I’d choose. Now, let every voter choose their company in the voting booth.”
