Sinn Féin’s terror fest

Statement by TUV leader Jim Allister

“The Sinn Fein shibboleth that “we all have the right to remember our dead” is a fallacy, built on the falsity of equivalence between victims and victim-makers, so essential to their rewriting of history.

“Just as there is no such equivalence, so there is a vast distinction between respectfully remembering innocent victims and celebrating those who made them victims.

“IRA ‘volunteers’ choose to be terrorists. Their victims had no choice.

“So, in celebrating terrorists, as Sinn Fein will again do on Sunday, they celebrate their murder count, they delight in the lives destroyed, the orphans created and the homes wrecked.

“It is a telling insight into the unreconstructed nature of terrorist-supporting Sinn Fein that they not only organise such events but glory in them. Idolising mass murderers is a form of republican idolatry which rightly repulses all but those who preach there was ‘no alternative’ to the obscenity of their horrific murders.

“Sunday’s terror fest is a timely reminder of why TUV is resolute in holding that Sinn Fein is unfit for government, never mind lording it over us as First Minister. Sadly, some who condemn Sunday’s event would readily partner in government these same terrorist justifiers.”
