Allister asked more than twice as many Assembly questions as all other North Antrim MLAs combined

Official figures on the Assembly website show that TUV leader Jim Allister asked more than double the number of questions asked by all other North Antrim MLAs combined in the last mandate.

Mr Allister tabled a total of 1,694 questions. By contrast, Paul Frew asked 365 questions, Mervyn Storey 232 and Philip McGuigan 146 – a total of 743 across the three MLAs or less than half of Mr Allister’s total. Robin Swann as a Minister was unable to ask questions in the last mandate.

When one considers the entire Assembly Mr Allister also leads the pack in terms of questions asked.

A TUV spokesperson said:

“It is quite a remarkable statistic that Jim has tabled more than twice as many questions as all other North Antrim MLAs combined. This demonstrates that TUV’s commitment to seeing an effective opposition to hold the government to account and thereby deliver better government for Northern Ireland is not mere talk but rather something we deliver on. The public know that Jim is not afraid to shine the spotlight of truth into any of Stormont’s dark corners. If people want to upset the status quo and deliver real change which they will notice, if they want unsettle the establishment and ensure they have MLAs which always fight for value for money for taxpayers then they can best do that by voting TUV on election day.”
