Statement by TUV leader Jim Allister:-
“The IRA murdered again in August. Then, the government Review Panel not only confirmed the existence and murder of the still armed IRA but also its continuing direction by an Army Council and its control of Sinn Fein. And what was the DUP’s response? Within an hour all ministers were back to business as usual, with not just murder swept under the carpet but the Army Council and its control of their partner, Sinn Fein, also.
“Ever since the DUP – desperate to avoid an election – has intensified its efforts to get a deal – any deal – with IRA/Sinn Fein. As the consummation of the deal approaches DUP/IRA/Sinn Fein has today been to Downing Street, after weeks of secret dealing in Stormont Castle.
“As for murder? Forgotten. IRA Army Council? Forgotten. IRA control of DUP’s partner, Sinn Fein? Forgotten. Decommissioning exposed as a fraud? Forgotten. Such is the path of degradation now trod by the DUP. Even Trimble at his worst never so openly embraced the IRA in government.”
