Statement by Cllr Timothy Gaston, TUV Bannside:
“In May 2016 after being contacted by residents of Leighinmohr Avenue regarding the roots of a tree planted on the footpath causing a collapsed wall, I was immediately in contact with Transport NI to get it fixed.
“After some time passing It has transpired that the holdup is due to NIE not approving an Isolation Order which would allow Transport NI proposed works to commence.
“The footpaths in Leighinmohr Avenue are a danger to walkers and an accident could easily happen.
“I hope when Transport NI are planning new schemes that thought is given to what size of trees are planted and that routine maintenance is carried out.”
