N Belfast Candidate Comments on IRA Flags

Commenting on the erection of a large number of IRA D Company flags outside the Millfield campus of Belfast Met TUV North Belfast Assembly candidate John Miller said:

“D Company of the IRA are a pack of bloodstained murderers who have caused huge death and destruction in North and West Belfast.

“This sort of glorification of terrorism is not just wrong but disgusting and grossly offensive to the many innocent people who lost their lives or were injured at the hands of the Provisionals.

“The murderers of Jean McConville are not the sort of people who should be lionised and celebrated.

“We are also entitled to ask what the current status of the Provos D Company is. Last year’s IRA murder and the subsequent report from HMG revealed that IRA terror is far from being a thing of the past.

“Where is the Sinn Fein statement – and more importantly action – on this matter?

“In the run up to the celebrations of the failed 1916 rebellion we can expect acts of provocation like this. I would appeal for calm within the Unionist community and demand that the statutory agencies – including the PSNI – act to remove these flags immediately.”
