Statement by TUV leader Jim Allister:-
“The disgraceful situation over the Sinn Fein cancelled aviation show at the Maze is the latest illustration of the unworkability of mandatory coalition and its key component, the Sinn Fein veto. The DUP is powerless in the face of this latest malevolent Sinn Fein veto, because this is the farcical form of government to which they signed up. How long do we have to be subjected to the shambles that passes for government at Stormont?
“Now, listening to Bomber Kelly on ‘Talkback’ he seems to be threatening the future of the RUAS Show at the Maze, unless Sinn Fein get their shrine buildings reopened. Government by blackmail must be rejected. Sinn Fein needs to come clean now on whether they are still underwriting the RUAS show, or not.
“This episode for many underscores the unpalatable truth that Sinn Fein is not in the Stormont Executive to give Northern Ireland good government, but to prioritise and peddle their pernicious terrorist-glorifying agenda at every turn. Hence, their preparedness to even use an aviation show as leverage to demand access to their shrine buildings at the Maze.”
