Gaston for North Antrim

Speaking on handing in his nomination papers TUV Westminster candidate Timothy Gaston said:

“Northern Ireland needs an overhaul of democratic policies and only TUV is serious about bringing that change. With the devolved arrangements across the United Kingdom set to be a major issue in the next Parliament due to the fallout from last year’s Scottish independence referendum, TUV needs to be there to make the case for voters in Northern Ireland to have the same basic democratic rights as electors in other parts of the UK, the right to vote a party out of government and the right to have an opposition.

“I am also deeply concerned at how Westminster has become subservient to Brussels, unable to even control our own borders. I will fight for the UK to have a say on leaving the EU in a referendum early in the life of the next Parliament. TUV is clear. We believe that we would be better off out and will campaign not just for a referendum but also for a vote to liberate us from the shackles of Brussels in the event of such a vote being called.

“A vote for TUV isn’t just about the big political issues locally and nationally. With our hospitals, schools and front line services are all fighting for survival a vote for TUV sends the clearest signal that you are fed up with the old parties of failure and want someone on your side..

“I want things to be better for us all. The loss of quality jobs at JTI brings home the perilous economic situation and the urgency for Invest NI to fight for jobs for this constituency. Invest NI needs to realise Northern Ireland does not end at Glengormley. Thus as MP I would not tolerate the scandal that in the last 5 years Invest NI brought only 8 potential foreign investors to North Antrim, but 739 to the Belfast constituencies. We demand fair treatment.”
