Statement by TUV Court Councillor Jolene Bunting:
“On Saturday 8th November residents on the Woodvale Road were once again faced with disturbing scenes as Army bomb disposal experts were called to the area due to a false indication from police dogs that explosives where in the area.
“Some residents where evacuated and the local community centre was made available to them.
“All this happened as the weekly parade made it’s way to a police line which was moved at the last minute.
“The weekly parade as always was extremely respectful of the work which the police were doing and moved off the road to allow the Army bomb squad to drive to the point which the police had cordoned off.
“There was a band from Leeds walking. I would like to thank this band for coming and also apologise that they had to witness such scenes. Unfortunately republican terrorist attacks are still a very real threat in Northern Ireland but thankfully in this case the scare proved to be a false alarm.”
