Statement by TUV party chairman Cusher councillor Keith Ratcliffe:
“I warmly welcome today’s announcement by the Education Minister that the enrolment at Markethill High School is to be increased. This reflects the growing need and demand for places in what is an excellent school.
“However, I have to add that this is not enough. The school simply does not have the suture to facilitate the number of pupils who need to be educated there. For years I have been calling for a replacement build for Markethill High and today’s news should focus minds on the urgency for action on this matter.
“There is a distinct sense in the area that the Protestant minority, who mostly attend the school, are being subjected to unequal treatment.”
