Statement by TUV leader Jim Allister:
“Having no positive case to make for the anti-democratic, corrupt and wasteful EU we have had no end of fear stories to try and scare the public into voting the way the establishment wants. However, even by their standards two stories today have taken things to a new level.
“Richard Haass has warned that Brexit will lead to violence in Northern Ireland while Donald Tusk has predicted much wider ramifications: “Brexit could be the beginning of the destruction of not only the EU but also of western political civilization in its entirety”.
“Project Fear has moved from offensively talking down the UK – which is the world’s fifth largest economy – to laughably suggesting that Brexit will lead to the destruction of Western civilisation!
“The reality, of course, is that it is the failed EU which is causing disconnect and discontent across the Continent. With youth unemployment at phenomenal levels, the experience of the EU is misery for many.
“There is nothing to fear from the people of the UK exercising their democratic rights and threats like these will be treated with the laughable contempt they deserve.”
