On Friday evening, TUV unveiled their candidate in South Antrim for the upcoming General election.
Richard Cairns, from Antrim, has been selected to contest the seat on behalf of TUV. Richard lives in Antrim, having attended Antrim Primary and Antrim Grammar before attaining bachelors and masters degrees from Queen’s University. Richard is involved with a number of community and cultural groups, while the 29 year old also serves as a Governor of Ballycraigy Primary School in Antrim.
Richard is TUV Vice Chair and PA to Jim Allister MLA.
Commenting on his selection Richard Cairns said:
“I am truly humbled to have been entrusted with the task of representing TUV in the upcoming General Election and offering the people of South Antrim a real alternative on the 7th May.
“TUV stands as that real alternative. Our message is resonating deeper and broader than ever before as people say “enough is enough”. Westminster is subservient to Brussels, while Stormont is an unmitigated disaster. TUV seek the support to better our position – both the UK’s in terms of exiting the EU, and Northern Ireland’s by bringing the basics of democracy back to Stormont.
“I will be asking for your support to do that.”
Message from Jim Allister:
“In Richard Cairns we offer the electorate another one of the new generation of TUV representatives. Young, able and committed to the principles of traditional unionism, as well as highly skilled in constituency work, having worked for some years in my office, Richard is exactly the type of new face South Antrim needs.
“Thousands in South Antrim kindly voted for me in the European election last year. I am now asking you to translate that into a vote this May for Richard Cairns and thereby strengthen my hand even further. South Antrim is a growth area for TUV and we look forward to a good election as more and more voters decide they have had enough of the broken promises of failed politicians. TUV in South Antrim is the Real Alternative.”
