Speaking at the launch of the TUV Election manifesto, Jim Allister described the elections as a “most timely opportunity to respond to the constant pandering to Sinn Fein by using the one weapon neither Sinn Fein, London, Dublin or Washington could take from us – the ballot box”.
“In recent weeks we’ve had a glimpse of the corruption and skullduggery that lies at the heart of the “peace process”. Most right thinking people are disgusted. Justice and democracy has been trampled in the gutter to placate IRA/Sinn Fein. Just last weekend we saw the Sinn Fein mask slip when McGuinness threatened to withdraw support from the police if they dared to charge Godfather Adams.
“All of this causes the TUV message to resonate with unionists and democrats. People are anxious to be heard and they know their disgust will best be heard by voting TUV. It will be the scale of the TUV vote which will be not just the barometer of unionist discontent but the indicator of the demand for change, arising from the dismal performance of Stormont.
“So, I see this election as a roll call of all unionists and democrats dismayed by the constant pandering to Sinn Fein and the constant failure and deadlock of Sinn Fein/ DUP misrule. There is an eagerness to shake things up and it is by voting TUV that that can be done.
“We also approach these elections with a positive record of achievement, be it Ann’s Law -the first victory for innocent victims in years and the first defeat for Sinn Fein in years, the stopping of the Maze Shrine project and the securing of equal pension rights for RUC widows. People have seen what one determined TUV voice can achieve and this is what they can equally have in Brussels and in the local councils.
“As with most things, TUV has a clear view on the EU: we’d be better off out. Not only is it a massive drain on our resources, costing the UK £1million every hour, but it robs our nation of its independence and the right to control even its own borders. TUV believes in national sovereignty, not Brussels Diktats. We demand an early referendum and will campaign for exit from the EU.”
