Statement by TUV leader Jim Allister:-
“Despite an overwhelmingly sympathetic, even at times sycophantic, media, the shine is coming off the Donaldson Deal.
“When respected DUP heavyweights dissect and reject the deal, then the general public know there is something rotten at its heart. And so there is: the endorsement of rule by EU law, the acceptance of an Irish Sea border and the systematic abandonment of the DUP’s solemn pledges.
“All of this, including the expose of the fake Stormont Brake, bring us back to the surrender of UK sovereignty to the EU over many of our laws and our border. It is this subversion of sovereignty that the Donaldson Deal embraces – and no amount of spin will alter this constitutionally disastrous reality.
“Never again, under this Protocol-implementing deal will Northern Ireland be a full part of the United Kingdom. That is the price the DUP has paid for power with Sinn Fein!”
