Statement by TUV leader Jim Allister:-
“The confirmation from Edwin Poots’s campaign manager and Economy minister in waiting, Paul Frew, that the DUP will consciously turn a blind eye to the existence of the IRA Army Council and its control over Sinn Fein is a truly astounding admission.
“On Nolan he said:
“Should we ask for an end to the army council and the control they have over Sinn Fein?…… Maybe ….., but we are not.”
“What sort of Unionist cares nothing about who is calling the shots with a party they sustain in power and govern with? Sadly, a DUP unionist!
“To then say that it will be done to make Northern Ireland work, is the ultimate non sequitur! This is the same IRA Army Council that directed maximum murder and mayhem to destroy Northern Ireland and its people, but now Paul Frew decrees ignoring their malevolent control is how the DUP plans to make Northern Ireland work!
“This is beyond parody and would be laughable if it were not so serious.”
