“TUV is delighted to announce that Ald Stewart McDonald and Cllr Timothy Gaston will be joined on the TUV ticket in Bannside by Anna Henry, daughter of former DUP councillor in the area, Billy Henry.
Jim Allister said, “As the strongest unionist party in Bannside and with two excellent councillors in Stewart McDonald and Timothy Gaston working relentlessly in the area for the past two terms, TUV sees Bannside as an area for growth. Thus I am delighted we are offering a third candidate from the new generation of unionist activists. As a young person and a woman Anna Henry will bring a new and exciting dimension to the TUV ticket as we go all out to return three councillors in Bannside.”
Anna Henry added, “For me it is not just the family tradition of local government service that I seek to build on but to join two of the hardest working councillors that exist across the Borough, Stewart and Timothy. Ald McDonald and Cllr Gaston have set the bar very high in terms of public service but I look forward to strengthening the party’s hand in the upcoming election. Of course, I want to be a strong voice for all, but particularly for young people who too often opt out of politics.”
Alderman McDonald and Cllr Gaston, who are poll-toppers in Bannside, added, “Having served the people of Bannside faithfully since 2014 we look forward to standing on our record and that of TUV and adding to our representation through seeing Anna elected as well. Ald Stewart McDonald has represented Bannside since 2014. Topped the poll in the last election with the highest vote for any candidate anywhere in Mid & East Antrim. He has earned the reputation of excelling as a hands-on local councillor. Life long resident of Ahoghill where he lives with his wife and two sons. Joiner by trade. Chairman of Council Planning Committee. Chair of Thistle FC.
Cllr Timothy Gaston has 10 years diligent service on the Council. Born and raised in Glarryford he still lives there with his wife and two small sons. Noted for his dedicated constituency work both as a councillor and as Jim Allister’s office manager and personal assistant. Chairman of the PCSP and former deputy Mayor. Timothy has brought constant challenge to shambolic mismanagement in the council.
Anna Henry at 21 brings youth and enthusiasm to politics. A business and marketing under-graduate she is well placed to assist in promoting economic growth and being an effective voice particularly for young people. Youngest daughter of former councillor Billy Henry she understands the demands of public service and is keen to deliver for local people. Resident of Cullybackey, plays in Killycoogan Accordian and Ballykeel bands and past member of Army Cadet Force.
