Statement by TUV leader Jim Allister:
“Throughout the pandemic a core Sinn Fein objective has been to further their narrow Republican agenda and to blame Westminster for all manner of problems. Their leader made this clear in the early days of the crisis when she described Covid-19 as an ”accelerant towards a united Ireland”.
“But any objective analysis of the facts will show that the pandemic has underscored the benefits of being part of the United Kingdom.
“While Micheál Martin talks about a “shared island” – which appears to rule out the possibility that the island can be shared on any other basis than that which is acceptable to Republicans and Nationalists – the chancellor has shown, yet again, that the people of Northern Ireland are better of as part of our United Kingdom.”
