Trader Support Service confirms NI being treated as EU territory

Statement by TUV party chairman Keith Ratcliffe:

“An email issued by the Trader Support Service to businesses which bring goods from Great Britain to Northern Ireland today has confirmed that this part of the UK is treated as EU territory with our products treated not as U.K. goods, but European Union goods.

“From a business point of view, the practical effect of these impositions is to encourage NI exports via the Republic to EU, rather than via Great Britain, as that avoids the bureaucracy of  Proof of Union Status.

“Likewise, goods flowing from EU mainland to Northern Ireland will find it easier to pass via the Republic, thus diminishing again our GB trading routes.

“Well done Jeffrey!”
