Time for “First Minister for all” to show leadership on Robert Nairac

Statement by TUV councillor Anna Henry:

“Former senior PSNI officer ‪Jon Burrows‬ has correctly called out the fact that social media, particularly X, is awash with Republican posts mocking the tragic case of Robert Nairac. I would echo his call for the self proclaimed “First Minister for all”, Michelle O’Neill, to condemn this and call for them to cease.

“The murder and disappearance of Captain Nairac was a shameful episode which highlighted the worst in the IRA campaign of terror. Shamefully, even yet those within the Republican movement who could assist with this case have remained silent.

“It is important to remember that one of Ms O’Neill’s responsibilities as a minister is to represent the interests of victims. Failure to speak out on this issue will highlight not just that Sinn Fein remain unfit for government but that she personally remains particularly unsuited for the post she holds.”
