Statement by TUV leader Jim Allister:
“The Stormont House Agreement is now in tatters. The much vaunted deal which saved Stormont has patently failed to do its job and Peter Robinson has obviously been sold a pup by Republicans.
“Sinn Fein have shown again that they are not in the government of Northern Ireland to bring us good government but rather to show that the Province is a failed political entity which cannot be governed.
“At any point they can, as they did today, remove the pin from the grenade and threaten to bring the whole system down.
“A system which is so volatile and unstable is incapable of delivery for the people of Northern Ireland.
“It is time for a serious democratic overhaul of Stormont and the replacement of failed and unworkable mandatory coalition.
“TUV is the only party which has consistently argued for this.
“In the meantime the people of Northern Ireland should have their opportunity to pass their verdict on the failed Stormont system.
“It’s time for an Assembly election.”
