Statement by South Antrim TUV Representative Richard Cairns:
“Just over two weeks ago I was contacted by Mr David Craig, a resident of Tildarg Road, regarding suspected subsidence on the road. His primary concern that this could cause a serious accident and a potential collapse at some point in the near future.
“Transport NI were urgently contacted, and the suspicion of subsidence has been confirmed by them. They discovered that an existing culvert wall was in the process of collapse and that they would now be rebuilding the wall to solve the problem.
“I would like to take this opportunity to thank Mr Craig, as he has performed a great civic duty in looking out for the safety of those using the Tildarg Road. Transport NI also deserve credit for how promptly they have investigated, and on speaking with them they are thankful to Mr Craig.”
Cllr David Arthurs, TUV Ballyclare commented:
“Mr Craig should be an example for everyone to follow – if you discover a problem get it reported. This swift action by both Mr Craig and Transport NI is most welcome and ultimately could have prevented a future accident.
“Keep up the good work.”
