Statement by TUV deputy leader Court Councillor Ron McDowell:
“With every day that passes there is further evidence to expose the DUP spin about the dreadful Donaldson deal.
“Today Minister of State Steve Baker has exploded another of the myths being peddled by the DUP press office. In a message to his constituents in Wycombe he says:
“There is nothing in the deal that would result in British laws becoming aligned with EU law. There is also nothing in the deal preventing British law from diverging from any retained EU law.”
“Let’s remember that Northern Ireland alone is bound by hundreds of pages of EU law under the Protocol which remain untouched by the recent deal between the Government and the DUP. Here our Minister of State has stated that there is “nothing” to stop the UK Government diverging from that.”
