Sinn Fein hypocrisy on Boris Johnson report exposed

Statement by TUV spokesperson Anna Henry:

“The headline this evening is that the report surrounding the breach of lockdown restrictions by Boris Johnson has been approved.

“I am totally in favour of transparency and accountability. If there has been wrong doings then there should be repercussions.

“Certainly, few Unionists will shed tears for Boris Johnson in light of his shameful betrayal of Northern Ireland.

“It is no surprise that our supposed ‘First Minister for all’ Michelle O’Neill stated that Boris Johnson’s premiership was “disastrous from start to finish”, when being interviewed regarding this important vote at Westminster this evening.

“Whilst it must be acknowledged that the Tory cabinet and indeed its leader at the time must be made accountable for their actions, the hypocrisy of Sinn Fein must also be noted. Let us not forget that in 2020, many members of Sinn Fein broke lockdown restrictions by attending the funeral of Bobby Storey. All that while many others were denied the opportunity to have a traditional funeral for their loved ones.

“While there will be some controversy over the decision of DUP MPs to abstain on the vote, it was no surprise to anyone that Sinn Fein MPs left their electorate without any say on the matter.

“Sinn Fein is the same party which is complaining daily about the cost of living crisis currently being encountered by all constituents across the United Kingdom, yet are happy to continue receiving their expenses from the British Government for a job they do not even fulfil.

“The hypocrisy is sickening!”
