Statement by TUV leader Jim Allister:-
“Apparent Sinn Fein collusion over the presentation of evidence to the former DFP Committee’s inquiry into NAMA must be thoroughly exposed and investigated. The Assembly Standards Commissioner has an obvious job to do and likewise any allegation to the PSNI of misfeasance in public office by MLA McKay must be rigorously examined.
“Of course Sinn Fein will try to distance itself and may even sacrifice McKay in that effort, but I for one do not believe that with Stalinst type control within Sinn Fein one of their Committee chairs would have acted in isolation.
“Politically, this exposes again the farce at the heart of power-sharing in Stormont. Just as anyone who thinks Sinn Fein is in Stormont to give Northern Ireland good government is deluded, so, too, as those who think the DUP/Sinn Fein axis can ever give us stable government.
“We’ll know if DUP anger on this issue is faux if they give SF a soft landing, again (let IRA/SF off the hook on McGuigan murder). Indeed, there is a certain irony that at the very time when the DUP was contriving to let Sinn Fein off the hook on the McGuigan murder, Sinn Fein was colluding to maximise DUP discomfort in the NAMA inquiry!
“The NAMA issue remains a serious matter requiring full investigation. This turn of events does not alter that. Thus, compatible in timing with the ongoing NCA investigation, the new DFP committee must not be distracted from its pursuit of the issues by the injurious behaviour of the Chair of the predecessor committee.”
