Shock following Garvagh farm accident death

Statement by Causeway Councillor and TUV vice chairman Allister Kyle:

“I am shocked and saddened to learn this week of the fatality during a farm accident in Garvagh, this was especially true when I realised I knew the individual involved.

“Joey was well known in the farming community along the Causeway coast. He was a talented farm construction contractor who was able to turn his hand to most things. We were thankful to have had Joey complete many jobs for us in the home farm at Craigahulliar

“Joey, one of life’s characters, will be sadly missed by many, not least his wife Christine and son Gavin. His sharp wit along with the time and interest he spent with those he worked for would always leave a lasting smile. In recent years, my father enjoyed going to help Joey with his cattle near Ballyrashane when he was needed.

“My thoughts and prayers are with Joey’s son Gavin and employee Ryan, who is also well known and respected amongst the community in Ballyrashane, as they hopefully make a full and speedy recovery.”
