Statement by TUV leader Jim Allister:-
“When I pressed Minister Storey today in Question Time on the excessive delay in resolving these claims, it is clear there has been no progress. A previous minister said DFP had submitted a paper to the executive in June 2014. Yet, despite Minister Storey’s attempts to avoid a straight answer, it is obvious this paper has never got to the executive table, because of Sinn Fein obstruction.
“Yet, we were told in Fresh Start and the Stormont House Agreement that a mechanism now exists to force a paper onto the executive agenda. So, and this is the question the minister sought to dodge, why has this mechanism not been used and will it be used?
“My impression was that the minister was backtracking from finding a resolution to these cases. Yet, these are civil servants who moved to DOJ and PSNI, working in police stations in the worst of The Troubles, who have been left behind in pay because they fulfilled this arduous public work.
“Little wonder these civil servants feel so betrayed and forgotten. Sadly, the executive has done nothing to help them.”
