Statement by TUV leader Jim Allister:-
“Martina Anderson can always be relied on to lower the tone, though, probably her outbursts more closely reflect the actual thinking of Sinn Fein than some of its more subtle figures like us to know. Now, we all know what Sinn Fein really thinks of those lawfully entitled to the planned pension.
“Her latest slur on the victims of the IRA that they were “fighting Britain’s dirty war” is a calculated insult not just to those who bravely wore the uniform to defeat the terrorism of her IRA, but applies equally to the hundreds of innocent civilians butchered for no reason other than in pursuit of the Provos’ blood lust.
“As an active participant in the Provos and their terror campaign Ms Anderson shows her true colours with outbursts like this. For thinking unionists it also renews the question of why such a terror-justifying party is sustained in office by anyone who cares about their victims. Sitting in government is no place for victim-makers.”
