Commenting on the outcome of the debate on his attempt to reduce the budget of the Equality Commission, TUV leader Jim Allister said he was dismayed that for all the posturing from DUP MLAs over the persecution of Ashers Bakery, not a single unionist MLA was prepared to even vote for this tangible rebuke of the Commission.
“Instead they all helped Sinn Fein ensure the move failed. Shame on them! Let all concerned by this issue, take note. There was no surprise in the Sinn Fein stance, but many will be disappointed that the DUP and UUP were not prepared to take a stand. Talk is cheap.
“I am grateful for John McCallister acting as a teller so that a vote could be held and we could force everyone off the fence.”
