Statement by TUV Mid Ulster representative Glenn Moore:
“Once again the mainly Protestant village of Innishrush has come under attack over the Halloween period. This has been going on for several years now with the village being bombarded with fireworks, eggs and stones.
“The perpetrators enter via a footbridge from the neighbouring village of Clady. The residents of Innishrush has had to block this bridge and put themselves under siege to stop the on going attacks.
“Shocking as this behaviour is, it is important to stress that it is nothing new with things like this happening for the past four years around the Halloween period. The attacks on the area happen year on year. That being so, the PSNI need to get their act together and proactively seek to bring them to an end. It was entirely predictable that an attack would take place on Halloween night. Had there been a PSNI presence in the area, this may well have been deterred.”
