Statement by TUV West Belfast Assembly candidate Jordan Doran:
“The first thing to say about the IRSP parade on the Falls Road today is that the display was entirely predictable. Where, therefore, were the PSNI? They can move in great numbers when it comes to Loyal Order demonstrations to ensure that every jot and tittle of a Parades Commission determination is enforced but when it came to today’s events the PSNI seem to have been content to sit back and watch from a distance, just as they did when it came to the Storey funeral.
“Once again loyalists will look at the actions of the PSNI and conclude, with justification, that there is one rule for Republicans and another for the rest of us. Later this week TUV will launch our manifesto. In that document we will not be shy about spelling out the reality of the policing situation in Northern Ireland and what needs to be done to address it. Today’s events are a stark reminder that the election in a few weeks is, among other things, an opportunity for the people to pass their verdict on the PSNI. They can best register their dissatisfaction by voting TUV, a party which has never been behind the door in calling out the double standards which we have witnessed so often in recent years.”
