Statement by TUV leader Jim Allister:-
“I, of course, accept the outcome of the Recall Petition in North Antrim. Whereas points can be made about the lack of signing centres (only 3 compared to 51 polling stations in an election), the result is the result.
“My hope is that Ian Paisley will learn from this experience and in consequence be more circumspect in his behaviour. My fear is that he will be emboldened to think he can get away with anything. Indeed boasting already on his social media profile of beating the Petition is not a good sign.
“The real losers in all of this remain the electorate of North Antrim who, because of Mr Paisley’s antics, will be without a voice and a vote in any knife edge votes on Brexit in the coming weeks in Westminster.”
