Statement by TUV leader Jim Allister:-
“The cloak and dagger secrecy surrounding the plans by Edwin Poots’ department to construct Irish Sea Border infrastructure at Larne Port knows no bounds.
“As appears from a response I have received from the Head of Planning in Mid & East Antrim Council, the plans are to be kept secret from the public and exempted from advertisement, consultation or public inspection. Even as an MLA I am to be denied either access to the file or the right to object.
“This is appalling. The minister whose department is making this application and the Council handling it should hang their heads in shame. Such behind back conniving flies in the face of everything that speaks to openness and transparency.
“It is through such works of darkness that Northern Ireland is being hived off from GB. Let every unionist note what is going on and who is involved.”
