Oliver to contest Portadown for TUV

The TUV have announced that Robert Oliver will contest Portadown for the party in May’s council election.

Robert Oliver is a family man with over 42 years experience in business. He knows the opportunities and challenges of running a business in the Portadown area. He is a member of the Board of Directors of the Confederation of Aerial Industries.

Robert is an active member of the Loyal Orders and formerly a prominent Ulster Unionist.

Commenting on his decision to stand Mr Oliver said:

“I am delighted to be selected as the TUV candidate for Portadown, a town I have worked in for 43 years and would be honoured to represent on council.

“TUV’s stand on the Protocol has resonated with many people who appreciate our clarity of message and determination to stand up for Northern Ireland’s place as a full part of the U.K.

“Inspired by Jim Allister’s determined leadership of Unionism at this time of crisis, I want to bring the same standard to the council.

“TUV is running its largest team ever in ABC council, testament in itself to the growth of the party across Northern Ireland and I look forward to being part of a strong TUV team on the council after the election”.

Commending Mr Oliver to the people of Portadown TUV leader Jim Allister said:

“Robert represents the diversity of Unionists who stand unapologetically for traditional Unionist values, firm and unwavering in their defence of the Union and I am delighted to offer a candidate of his calibre and ability to the people of Portadown.

“TUV polled very well across Upper Bann last year and we are looking forward to turning that support into seats on the council after the election.”

Mr Oliver completes the TUV line-up of candidates in ABC Council. He joins Keith Ratcliffe (Cusher), Brian Moorhead (Banbridge) and Sammy Morrison (Lagan River). Jonathan Beattie has withdrawn for personal reasons.
