TUV Court councillor Ron McDowell said:
“Ms O’Neill’s comments about John Finucane’s participation in an event to celebrate the bloody deeds of south Armagh IRA show just how removed Sinn Fein remain from basic decency. There was nothing “complex” about lining up men on their way home from an honest day’s work and shooting them on the side of the road because they were Protestants. There is no respect for those still grieving when you organise “kids entertainment” at an event to remember those behind the naked sectarian slaughter of pensioners in Tullyvallen Orange Hall.
“For all the talk of successive Sinn Fein representatives pertaining to represent everyone, their actions speak of hurt and division. The building blocks of society should not have a foundation built on a justification for murder, the Republican movement has been laid bare in this planned commemoration and the sight of it remains as sickening as ever”.
