Statement by Alderman Stewart McDonald, TUV Bannside:
“I have been contacted by residents of Portglenone and Ahoghill regarding the amount of litter on the grass verges between the two areas.
“The litter is unacceptable and I will be contacting the relevant agencies to undertake a clear up – but it is more important that those who are throwing the rubbish from their vehicles realise that they are ruining a scenic area. It is never acceptable to litter – wait until you get into the next town or your own home and then dispose of it in the nearest bin.
“We all have a role to play to keep our streets, roads and verges clear of litter.”
