McAuley urges support for petition to save Balnamore Primary

Statement by TUV Ballymoney councillor Jonathan McAuley:

“The proposed closure of Balnamore Primary has understandably upset and angered those who have had family connections with it going back generations. Having been at the heart of the local community for over half a century, the suggestions from the Education Authority have provoked strong opposition.

“I am privileged to have had opportunity to work with those opposing this move for a considerable period and have been involved in coordinating a petition which I trust will demonstrate the strength of local feeling on this issue.

“Balnamore Primary is more than just a school. It plays an important part in the lives of the entire community, connecting folk through a common bond and encouraging shared responsibility between pupils and parents.

“I would encourage all who feel strongly about this issue to sign the petition and to share it with their friends and family so no one is left in any doubt as to the attitude of local people to this scandalous move.”
