Statement by TUV Lisburn South candidate Stewart McEvoy:
“Yesterday‘s report on Nolan about the price of funerals in Lisburn City and Castlereagh Council underscored not just the scandalous sums which are being demanded of grieving families at a very difficult time but the lack of accountability. It is remarkable that the Council would come in for such criticism and yet have no one who is prepared to defend the policy on air.
“With 40 elected representatives on the council and an army of well paid employees surely there is someone who can defend the policy? It seems not.
“If the public are happy with such a situation then they can vote for more of the same. If not, then they can vote TUV to shake things up in a council which badly needs it”.
