Statement by TUV leader Jim Allister:-
“The walk out of the Kingsmill families from the protracted Inquest into the sectarian murder of 10 Protestants by the IRA, is entirely understandable.
“What has been going on in this inquest is farcical. The Coroner’s refusal to name dead IRA suspects, under the guise of contrived Article 2 concerns for the suspects’ relatives, is scandalous. The disregard for the Article 2 right to life for 10 Protestant workmen is what should be centre stage, not the “rights” of unspecified relatives of the killers.
“The failure to ask the questions requested by the Kingsmill relatives of the Garda compounds the hurt and lose of patience.
“Of all the Legacy Inquests this is the only one into IRA sectarian murders. Yet, it has been hallmarked by dither, delay and disappointment. I see no such diffidence in the anti-State inquests.
“This is the system the Lord Chief Justice has driven forward. Its imbalance is colossal. It is not delivering for Protestant victims. It is time Sir Declan Morgan took responsibility for what is going on. When in the sole inquest into IRA terrorism the victims walk out, it is time for officialdom to wake up.”
