“Last night’s further expose of NAMA skullduggery by BBC Spotlight underscores the need for the NCA to be seen to be making progress in bringing to account any participants in corrupt practices. It is time the NCA gave a public update on its investigation.
“The NCA has a vital role to play and must be seen to be on the job, because one of the downsides is the resulting inhibition on proactive investigations on the political front.
“The stark Spotlight allegations require those politicians, who professed themselves friends of Frank Cushanan and who effectively gave him character references, to now further clarify their relationships and all their NAMA related dealings with him. Boasts of hush hush encounters and of ministerial pressure on NAMA to minimise the asking price for its loan book must not be allowed to pass unexplored and unexposed.”
