Statement by TUV leader Jim Allister:-
“The latest anti-Brexit scare story – eagerly promoted by the BBC – that the lights could go out in a ‘No Deal’ scenario, highlights, for me, the folly of a Single Electricity Market whose Dublin controlled model ran down generating capacity in Northern Ireland and had no interest in improving NI/GB interconnection.
“While EU malevolence may wish such ill upon us, it would also take the Dublin Government to renege on its separate contractual agreement that established the ESM.
“A lesson to be learned is that “taking back control” needs to extend to our electricity market, as well as everything else.”
