Statement by TUV leader Jim Allister:
“The depraved attack on the memorial to 10 Protestant workmen at Kingsmill will only add to the hurt and injury of those who lost loved ones in what was arguably the most brutal and blatantly sectarian attacks of the Troubles.
“Time and again in recent years the relatives have suffered insults from Republicans. We have a play park named after a terrorist arrested with one of the weapons used at Kingsmill in his possession and every trick in the book has been pulled to preserve the name. We’ve had a Sinn Fein MP parade around with a Kingsmill loaf on his head on the anniversary of the massacre. Now we have a tricolour nailed to the memorial and wreaths destroyed.
“So much for the bright future for Unionists in “agreed Ireland”!”
