Irish Language Act isn’t a trade-off for the Protocol

Statement by TUV spokesperson John Brennan:
“The comments attributed to an anonymous DUP source this morning that an Irish Language Act will be “off the table” while the Protocol remains are a red herring.
“There should be no question of any Unionist agreeing to an Irish Language Act under any circumstances.
“It is interesting, however, that both internally and now publicly the DUP are no longer attempting to maintain the fiction that they have not agreed to an Irish Language Act as part of the New Decade New Approach deal.
“TUV is clear. Even if it were a feasible proposal bringing in Irish language legislation in any guise is and always will be unacceptable to the Unionist community.”
