Speaking on the occasion of handing in his nomination papers for North Antrim, TUV leader Jim Allister said:
“On this 6th June, as we nominate to participate in the democratic process, we cannot help but be mindful of and grateful for the great courage and sacrifice of a previous generation 80 years ago, as soldiers from across the United Kingdom, with their allies, repelled the Nazi threat to the very survival of our nation. Without their heroic actions we would not have the right to elect those who govern us.
“Now, I’m 2024, voters in this constituency, and across Northern Ireland, face a clear choice: endorsement of the dud Donaldson Deal through support for the DUP candidate, or reiteration of North Antrim’s strong stand against the Union-dismantling Protocol and its Irish Sea border.
“Voters are entitled to honesty from their politicians. The DUP tried to deceive voters by claiming their Donaldson Deal removed the sea border. Now, they have had to admit that claim was false. Those who sought to mislead unionists in February do not deserve their vote in July!
“Integrity and truth still matter. On that basis, having been North Antrim’s strong voice in the Assembly, I now offer the same at Westminster.”
