Statement by TUV leader Jim Allister:-
“The concession today, through its counsel, that DETI was responsible for a “fundamental, catastrophic error” in the RHI scheme, which led to the absence of tariff caps, despite the department being told by Treasury in 2011 that the London funds available to the scheme in Northern Ireland were restricted to 3% of the GB total, puts the spotlight right back on the minister in charge of the department.
“The minister signed off the scheme, after the Treasury warning, and is responsible for actions and inactions in the department. There really isn’t any hiding place here for a minister asleep at the wheel.”
