Greenisland Church of the Holy Name bouncing back after fire

Statement by TUV Carrickfergus councillor David Clarke:
“I warmly welcome the reopening of The Church Parish Community Shop on Station Road, Greenisland.
“Last year’s devastating fire was a profound shock and a deeply challenging time for the entire local community. Over the past nine months, the absence of this vital community resource has been deeply felt.
“This weekend’s reopening marks an encouraging and hopeful milestone. The shop has long been a much-valued asset, offering essential everyday products at affordable prices right on the community’s doorstep. It is wonderful to see the buzz of anticipation and excitement in Greenisland once again.
“This is not just the reopening of a shop — it is the first step on the road to recovery for the congregation and for the wider community.
“I wish the team every success in this new chapter and encourage everyone to show their support by shopping local.
“Finally, I look ahead with confidence and hope to the rebuilding of the main church and its halls over the coming year. The resilience, determination, and spirit shown by this congregation and community in the face of adversity is truly inspiring.
“I have no doubt they will come back stronger than ever!”
