Government should be honest about why there’s a “vanishingly small” chance of bringing criminals to justice

Statement by TUV Mid Ulster representative Glen Moore:

“Today’s comments by the Secretary of State on the Government’s legacy proposals omit certain important facts. There is a “vanishingly small” chance of bringing terrorists to justice because for years the justice process in Northern Ireland has been contorted out of shape in order to accommodate the political process. Not only were terrorists released early but many who never served a day in jail were given OTR letters which effectively rendered them free from prosecution.
“Now the Government proposes to introduce a process which will see the already remote hopes of victims in seeing any justice disappear. This is a shameful betrayal of the innocent.”
