Statement by TUV Deputy Mayor, Cllr Timothy Gaston:
“Last year I was approached by residents of Cullybackey regarding a lack of open space for children to safely play in.
“I took the issue to Ballymena Council highlighting that there was an overgrown green in Tobar Park that would be ideal for the local community to use. After putting the case to Council I was glad to secure regular cutting of the green and a set of Childrens sized goal posts.
“I kept up the pressure when Mid and East Antrim Borough Council took over, and I am glad to report that as well as continuing to maintain the green, Council has further enhanced the area so that the kids will be encouraged to use the green space.
“It is important in this day and age that kids are outside taking part in healthy activities, and I would like to thank the Council for getting enhancements in place ahead of the summer holidays.”
