Statement by Cllr Timothy Gaston, TUV Bannside:
“At the start of July as part of the Green Pastures “sonshine” week a dedicated group of church volunteers embarked on redeveloping the Ballee walkway.
“Many local residents have commented that the 20 strong group who spent a full week transforming an overgrown neglected area into somewhere local people how like to visit to sit and relax.
“I was saddened to learn that overnight (Wednesday 17th August) this area has been the target of vandals. A lot of hard work has went into this area and I urge all the local volunteers to continue to work hard and to continue taking pride in their community.
“I am glad to see the police are actively seeking information and I would urge anyone with information to contact Constable Glasgow, Ballymena NPT on 101.”
