Statement by TUV Braid councillor Christopher Jamieson:
“It is deeply disappointing that when presented with an opportunity to reassess the direction of his party and the division to Unionism which has been caused as a result, the new DUP leader has chosen maintaining devolution over Unionist unity.
“Mr Robinson should be aware that the United Unionist Declaration in which his party pledged “unalterable” opposition to the Protocol remains on the DUP website. It was at that point that Unionism was united yet it seems that the DUP has chosen unity behind a Protocol implementing Sinn Fein lead Executive rather than unity behind Unionist principles.
“That is regrettable but it is the DUP’s choice to introduce that division. They should blame no one else. Unionists who believe in the Acts of Union and opposing the division of the UK must and will be heard.”
