Even Corbyn Recognises Joint Authority is Non-Starter

Statement by TUV leader Jim Allister:

“For months now we have heard Nationalists call for “joint authority” and fanciful notions that if the British-Irish Intergovernmental Conference were to be convened it would amount to such.

“Long before the current crisis the DUP sold coalition with Sinn Fein/IRA to a sceptical base on the grounds that the only alternative was joint authority – the mythical “Plan B”.

“But speaking to the News Letter even Sinn Féin’s mate Corbyn has recognised that this is constitutionally impossible. If the Intergovernmental Conference did meet London is only obliged to consult Dublin about non-devolved matter.

“The constitutional position of Northern Ireland as part of the U.K. is clear.”
